Final Competition Version!

Hey all!

It's not been very long since Riflewitch released, but trust me, I have big plans! I've partnered with a 3d Modeler and am working on some STL files for you to use for your witches! (Plus 2e is in the works :3)

But, back on track, the contest was great fun! I'm happy with how my two games turned out, and am excited for the possibility of a year two. Plus, I feel good about my chances for that lucrative prize package (nyehehe...). So, why make riflewitch? Well, I needed to use one box, obviously. But moreso, what one box? I had finished a game called Birds of Mars (Which I may release here) and was on a One-Box Wargame high. So I looked for gaps in the competition. There was nothing Modern. There was not much with wizards. I combined the two.

My main inspirations were, rather embarassingly, anime. I wanted to replicate the "Both sides are bad but one is worse" and the "Factions have an interesting one-upmanship" from 86. I wanted to steal the "Magic w/ Guns" from that one Tanya show. I wanted to steal oh-so-much from Valkyria Chronicles. And thus, my insane creation came together.

Actually Making the game? Well, it was pretty easy. I figured out what mechanics I wanted, blind tested them on my own, and put them to paper. Remember, there was a time limit here, and this was my second game. So it was, for lack of a better term, rushed. The world of riflewitch came together around tropes, mostly. Magic Schools, Demons, Possesion, Military Dictatorships.

Going forwards, I intend to make a paid version of riflewitch, with artwork, better formatting, diagrams, and more factions. I also seek to win the contest. I mean, who wouldn't want to be published by Wargames Atlantic?

Have a great day!
